Stoke City were relegated from the Premier League by a 2-1 loss to Crystal Palace, who guaranteed their safety with a come-from-behind victory.
Second-half goals from Palace’s James McArthur and Patrick van Aanholt cancelled out Xherdan Shaquiri’s opener at the Bet365 Stadium.
Stoke are second-bottom on 30 points with one game left, but since Southampton (32 points) and Swansea (33) directly above them play each other midweek, guaranteeing one of them 34 points, the Potters’ 10-year run in the top flight is over.
Palace, meanwhile, are safe after moving nine points clear of the bottom three with just two games remaining.
Bottom side West Bromwich Albion will be also relegated if they fail to beat Tottenham Hotspur among the day’s other five matches.
