The political thriller “House of Cards” will continue into a sixth and last season, which will be filmed without star Kevin Spacey, Netflix announced on Monday.
Production for the last eight episodes of the popular web TV series will begin early next year, a Netflix spokeswoman confirmed .
“We have agreed to move forward with a sixth season,” the spokeswoman said. Production is tentatively set to begin in early 2018.
Netflix last month suspended production of “House of Cards” after sexual harassment and assault allegations were levelled against Spacey.
Among the accusers were US actor Anthony Rapp and several “House of Cards” crew members.
In the wake of the allegations Netflix severed ties with the Oscar-winning actor.
In the series, Spacey played the power-hungry politician Frank Underwood, who clawed his way from South Carolina congressman to the Oval Office.
The last season will star US actress Robin Wright, according to the Hollywood Reporter. Wright had played Underwood’s wife Claire and had taken over as president in the previous season.
