Corps Members Produce, Donate Hand sanitizers, Masks To Ekiti

Members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) serving in Ekiti State have manufactured and donated hand sanitizers, face masks, sprayers and hand washing soap, to Ekiti State Government to contain the spread of COVID-19 in the country.

The Coordinator of National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in the state, Mrs Emmanuella Okpongete disclosed this while presenting some of the produced items to Ekiti government to support its fight against coronavirus pandemic.

Okpongete said the gesture was part of the scheme contribution to the government fight against the raging dreaded disease.

According to her, “Today we are donating 450 sprayers in different sizes, 500 hand sanitizers, 300 face masks and 416 hand washing soaps to Ekiti government in support of its fight against COVID-19 pandemic.

“These items were produced within three days by our corps members through the state NYSC scheme Entrepreneural Acquisition Centre, ” Okpongete said.

This came as the Management of Ekiti State University, Ado Ekiti has donated hand sanitizers, face masks and liquid soap to Ekiti state government

The Chairman of Ekiti COVID-19 Committee, Prof Mobolaji Aluko, who received the item on behalf of the State governor, Dr Kayode Fayemi thanked the NYSC for the gesture saying the items donated would go along way to assist in the fight against pandemic in Ekiti.

“They will be useful to our health workers, market women and others. This effort of NYSC scheme and corps members is commendable, ” Aluko said.

The institution’s Vice Chancellor, Professor Edward Olanipekun while presenting the material said that the gesture was to complement the efforts of Ekiti State Government in combating the pandemic.

According to a statement signed by the Head, Directorate of Information & Corporate Affairs of the institution, Mr Bode Olofinmuagun, the materials were produced by the University, using local materials.

Olanipekun commended the proactive measures put in place by Governor Kayode Fayemi, which reduced the incidence of the pandemic to the barest minimum in Ekiti State.

He also expressed satisfaction at the performance of the Committee put in place by Ekiti State Government so far.

Receiving the materials on behalf of the State Government the Director General, Office of Transformation and Good Governance, Professor Mobolaji Aluko thanked the University for the gesture .
