Alex Ferguson no longer needs intensive care, Man United says

Former Manchester United manager Alex Ferguson no longer needs intensive care following emergency surgery for a brain haemorrhage on Saturday.

He will continue rehabilitation as an inpatient, United said in a statement on Wednesday.

British football’s most successful manager, Ferguson won 38 trophies in almost 27 years at United before retiring in 2013.

He led the Red Devils to a record 13 Premier League titles, five FA Cups and two Champions League triumphs, including the treble of all three competitions in 1999.
